Alfred von Strasser- Sánczi was born in Lettowitz, Moravia to a Jewish family. He became an art collector in Vienna. He married Clarisse von Wertheimstein; they had two sons and a daughter. His wife’s sister, Ruzsika Edle von Wertheimstein, married Nathaniel Charles Rothschild (1877-1923), a member of the British Rothschild family.
