Edward Adolphus Seymour was born on 24 February 1775 at Monkton Farleigh in Wiltshire, England. He later changed his name to Edward Adolphus St. Maur. Seymour was a mathematician and served briefly as President of the Astronomical Society of London in 1820. He spent much of his life at Somerset House, his townhouse on Park Lane in London.
