Version 1 - 3 :15pm; The Préfet regional de la Haute-Vienne informed the CGQJ by phone that the truck carrying the Schloss collection reached the Banque de France at about 1pm. Before then, the crates had remained in the truck that whole time which had been parked temporarily at a German barracks under Wehrmacht supervision 7, rue des Vénitiens, around the corner of the Banque de France on boulevard Carnot. French agents observing movements in that area confirmed that the crates had been effectively transferred to the Banque de France branch that day and placed in the custody of the Banque de France’s director. The surveillance was therefore lifted. He hoped that Darquier de Pellepoix would instruct the commander of the HVS (Hauptverbindungsstab] in Limoges to arrange for the return of the collection to the Chateau de Chambon as soon as possible.
