Status report on missing Schloss paintings

Raymond Schloss confirmed to the OBIP director that the family was still missing 229 paintings (from a total of 333, 49 were returned by the Louvre, 54 by Services de Récupération and one by Monsieur Nicholas in Paris. According to his family, the missing paintings were transported to Germany. Raymond confirmed the restitution of 18 October 1946, the painting returned and presumed to be by Jean van der Neer was indeed by that artist “Village du bord d’un canal, effet de clair de Lune.”
