Silvio Valenti Gonzaga

Silvio Valenti Gonzaga was an Italian nobleman and Catholic cardinal and owned a large collection of more than 800 Italian and Northern European paintings. His collection was sold in Amsterdam in 18 May 1763. He is mentioned in the provenance of the painting Portrait du graveur Paul Pontius by Anthony van Dyck (Schloss German no. 56/ French no. 77).
