The Rijksmuseum is the Dutch national museum located in Amsterdam. It was originally founded in The Hague on 19 November 1798, but moved to Amsterdam already in 1808. The museum’s collection contains more than 2,000 paintings from the Dutch Golden Age by notable painters such as Jacob van Ruisdael, Frans Hals, Johannes Vermeer, Jan Steen, Rembrandt, and Rembrandt’s pupils.
