René Huyghe, as a curator of paintings at the Louvre, took the necessary steps to ensure that the Louvre would be able to appropriate paintings from the confiscated Schloss collection. To do this, he worked with Jean-François Lefranc and the CGQJ to safeguard French interest in the collection as a counterpoint to German aspirations to acquire it for the Linz Museum Project. Mr. Huyghe served as a character witness during the prosecution of Jean-François Lefranc.
