At a meeting between Pierre Laval and Schleier, Laval agreed that the Schloss collection should be sold to the Linz Museum project. Nevertheless, he reiterated the right of the French government to exercise its right of first refusal on the collection as it is integral to French cultural patrimony. Also, Laval raised the possibility of exchanging the Schloss collection for paintings of interest to France which sit in German collections.
