Meeting between Favier and Armillon

Favier met with Armillon [sic] and Petre. Armilhon’s presence was explained later on by Darquier de Pellepoix to ensure that the seizure and transfer of the Schloss collection would take place according to established procedures. Favier told Mr. Tixier that their orders were to place seals on the door to the vault. Tixier called Mr. Renaud, who issued a strong protest against such a measure. He then called the Préfet who had signed the original warrant following a letter delivered from Vichy. The Préfet agreed to have the seals removed the following morning in order not to disrupt the conduct of normal business operations.
