In a brief note on page 4 of the 14 September 1940 edition of ‘The Morning News’ (Wilmington, DE), Lucien Schloss was quoted as saying that on the Riviera, one is not allowed to wear pajamas or shorts at the beach. He was described as an export ‘commissionaire’ (broker) with Adolphe Schloss Fils et Co. who had settled ‘now in Nice with his brother, Henri.’
