Louis Robert de Saint-Victor

Louis Robert de Saint-Victor was a French art collector living and working in Rouen, France. He worked as a secretary at the Rouen Academy of Science, and from 1765 onwards, he was one the presidents at the Normandy “chambre des Comptes, Aides et Finances,” also located in Rouen. His art collection consisted of 472 Dutch and Flemish works, including works by van der Neer, van der Heyden, Steenwyck, van Goyen, Moucheron and van der Velde, as well as 250 artworks from other schools. From 25 November 1822 to 7 January 1823, his collection was auctioned off. Among his estate was a painting attributed to Gerard Ter Borch entitled L’intéressant message (Schloss German Nr. 215, Schloss French Nr. 256) which later was part of Adolphe Schloss’ collection.
