The Kunsthaus Zürich traces its history back to the founding of the Künstlergesellschaft in 1787. In 1812, the museum moved to it’s first location, a club house and bar. In 1847 a small gallery designed by Gustav Albert Wegmann was annexed to the original premises. Wilhelm Wartmann served as the museum’s first curator and director from 1909 until 1949,
