Joseph Schwertl possessed Schloss 53 and Schloss 202. He was a baker well-familiarized with the black market in Munich living at Fürtenstrasse 8/10. Joseph Brandl (Holzstrasse 32, Munich). confirmed that Schwertl held the two Schloss paintings and many others from the Führerbau. After a stiff interrogation, Schwertl turned over to the MCCP Schloss 53 and Schloss 202 as well as 6 other paintings on 18 October 1948.
