Jacomo de Wit

Jacomo or ‘Jacob’ de Wit was an art collector, art dealer and wine merchant in Antwerp. He was the uncle and godfather of the Dutch painter Jacob de Wit (1695-1754). He died on 5 July 1721 leaving his art collection to his widow, Isabella-Clara van Simpelvelt, she died in 1740.

Jacomo is mentioned in the provenance of the painting _Résurrection de Lazare _by Peter Paul Rubens. The picture was sold at the sale of his widow on 15 May – June 1741 in Antwerp.
