    Nicolas François Jacques Boileau was born in Etampes (Éssonne) in 1720. After studying at the Académie de Saint-Luc (Paris), he became a member in 1748 and served as the institution's director since 1759. Boileau held an art dealership on the Quai de la Mégisserie.
