In September 1946 or thereabouts, Franz Kälberer met Otto Kisov, a refugee from East Prussia, who lived at Leopoldstr. 16/II and who dabbled in the black market. It appears that Kisov agreed to “handle the paintings” for Kälberer and kept them at his place. Kisov then displayed them for several days at the apartment of a barber, Hans Kreuzpaintner, Sendlingerstr. 40, Munich. There, a man named Hoffmann saw them and informed Breitenbach who ordered the paintings seized and returned to the MCCP.
