Guillaume-Jean Constantin

The art dealer Guillaume Jean Constantin was active in Paris during the last quarter of the 18th and the first years of the 19th century. His business network included a number of European countries, including France, England, Italy, Germany as well as Russia. He had a particular close relationship with Johann Friedrich Städel, a Frankfurt collector and founder of the Städel institute. Constantin also worked as an expert in estate evaluation, as an auctioneer, as a print publisher, and as a painting’s curator to Empress Joséphine, Napoleon’s wife.
