Dr. Gerlach indicated to the German Foreign Office that the Schloss collection is in Paris. He estimated that there were 230 paintings of interest to Germany for which the sum of 30 million Reichsmarks should be proposed.  He noted that the relationship with the Louvre representatives was amiable and they chose 49 paintings for their museum. Lohse and Göpel would cooperate with him to speed up the appraisal, inspection and selection process.
