According to evidence collected by Allied investigators in 1945 Hermann Göring may have made several attempts in 1941 to acquire all or part of the Schloss collection. Lucien Schloss, as the family’s spokesman, was presumably solicited on several occasions to sell his father’s collection to German agents acting on behalf of the Nazi State.
