Discovery of paintings at the Old Botanical Gardens in Munich by Ulrich Toepser

Shortly after the American army occupied Munich, Ulrich Toepser, a Munich librarian, residing at Steinhelstraße 8/39, discovered at or near the Old Botanical Gardens, close to the Führerbau, at least 12 paintings which he realized were of significant value “as an art connoisseur.” These paintings were from the Schloss collection.
