Darquier de Pellepoix noted that it is imperative that the Schloss collection should be transferred to Paris for identification and appraisal purposes. Pellepoix wanted Schleier to guarantee that the collection will return to the south zone and that the occupying forces relinquish their rights, other than those stipulated in the south zone, while the collection is in Paris.
