Michel Martin, curator of the Louvre, who had expressed his worry about the fate of the Schloss collection, went to Limoges to inquire about the treatment of the collection by German SD officials. He insisted to the Germans that Vichy was firmly opposed to the transfer of the collection to the German authorities.
