Lohse left for Munich to prepare for arrival of the Schloss collection. Göpel said that he screwed up. Rose Valland speculated that Lohse planned the whole incident involving the truck carrying the collection, his plan faltered when Laval ordered it intercepted. She found out that the collection is for Hitler and was referred to as “München Führerbau” at the Jeu de Paume. Göpel went out of his way to make sure that the ERR stamp did not appear on the Schloss crates—he described the stamp as a “stempel of thieves.” Valland noted that the shipment to Munich taught her for the first time the existence of the Linz Museum and the Führerbau.
