The Director of the OBIP informed Raymond Schloss about the creation of a complete catalogue of works of art plundered by the Germans with were not recovered. Meanwhile, the Central Office of Restitutions (Bureau Central des Restitutions) asked for a precise number of the paintings that the Schloss family were still missing and if he thought that those paintings had been transported to Germany. A specific request was made about a painting by van der Neer, representing “un effet de clair de lune”. Confirmation was needed about which of the van Neer paintings was restituted on 18 October 1946 and appears on the collection list: Aert van der Neer, “Rivière clair de lune” or Jan van der Neer, “Village bord canal, lune”.
