Baron Arnoud Willem van Brienen van de Groote Lindt

Arnoud Willem van Brienen was the son of Willem Joseph van Brienen (1760-1839) and the father of Willem Thierry Arnold Maria van Brienen (1814-1863). Just as his father, he was a merchant in the family business ‘Willem van Brienen en zoon’ and active as a politician. Van Brienen inherited the art collection of his father but has not made any additions to the collection. After his death the collection was passed on to his son.

He is mentioned in the provenance of the painting La liseuse by Dominicus van Tol (Schloss German no. 218/ French no. 259).
