Joseph Brandl denounced Joseph Schwertl as holding many paintings from the Führerbau, including Schloss 53 and Schloss 202. MCCP officials interrogated Schwertl who admitted having them and he surrendered them to MCCP on 18 October 1948.

Joseph Schwertl possessed Schloss 53 and Schloss 202. He was a baker well-familiarized with the black market in Munich living at Fürtenstrasse 8/10. Joseph Brandl (Holzstrasse 32, Munich). confirmed that Schwertl held the two Schloss paintings and many others from the Führerbau. After a stiff interrogation, Schwertl turned over to the MCCP Schloss 53 and Schloss 202 as well as 6 other paintings on
