Grégoire-Hippolyte Delaroche was one of the more prominent art dealers and art experts in Paris at the end of the 18th- and the beginning of the 19th century. His brother-in-law, Adrien-Jacques Joly (1795–1849) was curator of the Cabinet des Estampes at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris. Gregoire-Hippolyte had two sons who were active as artists.
