Philppe Pétain oversaw the destiny of France during the years of collaboration between the Vichy government and the Third Reich under Adolf Hitler. His Prime Minister, Pierre Laval, played a role in authorizing the sale of a substantial portion of the confiscated Schloss collection to the Sonderauftrag Linz, as a reflection of Franco-German collaboration.
