Deportation of Jews from Rome

More than 300 German security police raided the so-called Rome Ghetto and rounded up more than 1200 people. German authorities determined that 1,007 were Jews and ordered their deportation to Auschwitz on or about 18 October 1943. A handful returned to Rome after WWII.
