Charles-Alexandre de Calonne was a French statesman whose efforts to reform the structure of his nation’s finance and administration precipitated the governmental crisis that led to the French Revolution of 1789. He was the previous owner of the painting _Woman feeding her child _by Nicolaes Maes that Adolphe Schloss later owned and sold during his lifetime.
