International conference on cultural property protection at The Hague

An international conference convened at The Hague, Netherlands, bringing together 56 nations, most of whom were involved in the Second World War. The most important outcome was the so-called Hague Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict which outlined principles and guidelines for State to abide by in regard to the protection of cultural property and cultural assets during armed conflicts.
