Karl Bömelburg was an SS-Sturmbannführer, in charge of Section IV (Amt IV/Gestapo) of the SD in France. He was also the Gestapo overseer of the Durchgangsslager (transit camp) Drancy and answered directly to Heinrich Müller in Berlin.

Karl Bömelburg joined the Gestapo in 1933 and in 1938 became part of the staff of Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop in Paris.
