French financier and collector of books and artworks. He is considered one of the greatest collectors of the 18th century.

He is mentioned in the provenance of the painting Paysage by Pieter van Asch (Schloss German no. 1/ French no.1). The picture was sold at his estate sale on 27 February - 25 March 1777 in Paris.
