Leopold II was the second King of the Belgians (reign:1865-1909) and ruler of the Congo Free State from 1885-1908. Leopold II is mentioned in the provenance of the painting _Portrait d'homme_ by Thomas de Keyser. The painting was part of Leopold's collection which was acquired by art dealer Franz Kleinberger in 1909. Franz Kleinberger sold the painting to Adolphe Schloss on 20 January 1910. Adolp
