Schloss 261 was recovered from Maria Almas-Dietrich. Victor Mandl, presumably acting on advice by Bruno Lohse, sold Schloss 261 to Maria Almas Dietrich in 1944 who then sold this painting a month later in February 1944 to Ernst Buchner, director of the Pinakotek of Munich.
