Charles-Jacques Chapelain de Séréville was the previous owner of two paintings,_ L'Île enchantée_ by Jan Brueghel the Elder (Schloss German no. L5/ French no. 33) and _Scène d’intérieur_ by Jan Steen (Schloss German no. 200/ French no. 240). Both were sold at the Séréville sale, Paillet, Paris, in January 22, 1812.
