Throughout his professional life, he worked as a physician, a professor and a rector (Rector Magnificus) of the Universities of Harderwijk and Utrecht. He published scientific works in the medical and anatomic fields. He collected naturalia, Dutch Old Masters and contemporary paintings.&lt;br /&gt;
